I can't say this has helped me very much, my test scores are still way down there, but it might help you: I tried taking notecards, and our teacher had sugested picking out the who, what, where, when, why, how, ect. that was significant in each section, and asking ourselves what that is. So i used notecards and wrote all of that out. It's also nice and easy to flip back through them right before a test that way.

I'd try taking the practice quizzes on this site. They really helped me on my last quiz. Taking your own notes takes a lot of time (at least it does for me), but something definitly has to be said for the whole writing stuff down-connection to the brain thing. Good luck!

There are a few college sites that offer really useful practice tests for Ap Us History. I would recommend that people use them if they want to pass a test. Just search for them on Google.

Have you tried taking Cornell Notes? If not, here is the basic layout...
-Title of lesson
-Objective
Divide the page into two sides; left side about 1/3 of the page, right side about
2/3.
-Left column: write any questions (i.e. what year was Lincoln
assassinated?) and vocab from the lesson.
-Right column: answer the questions, define vocab, add misc. notes
-Lesson summary at end of notes

This technique has proven to be very useful. Hope it helps.

Personally, I don't think 80s are bad at all. I think the highest grade I've gotten is an 88. My class is insanely hard, and it's basically a teach yourself class. I can't think of any better way to study either. Perhaps try studying with a friend, or a group. Then that way they might pick up on things that you are missing.

Reminder: A 60% on the AP test is a 5.
