Girlfriend or Arm Candy?

My boyfriend and I started dating in seventh grade...and it lasted until eleventh grade. We used to hang out a lot, but one summer, he just snapped. I was like, all he wanted from the relationship was the fact that he could brag to all his dateless friends that he had a girl. I didn't even get a Christmas present. SO, I broke it off, and now the jerk is off trying to date college girls...Anyway, any advice for getting back into the game...or any guys looking for gals..;)

Don't sweat it, if thats all the guy was doing, forget him. A guy should respect a girl and not just be bragging about having her. And the no Christmas Present thing, A present shouldnt have to be given to show how much you care about somebody but he should have, imho, atleast done something small for you (as a note I dont go "small stuff" for my gf). 4 years or not the guy should respect you. I'v been going out wiht my gf now for 2 years. I never let her pay, I always pay, always hold the door open for her (unless she beats me to it, its like a game now), etc...

As far as "getting back into the game" dont get "back into the game" be yourself. If you try to "get back in the game" and just get a guy, your probbably gonna end up with some guy who is trying to take advantage of you, the kind that give all of us respectful guys a bad name. Be yourself, if the right guy comes along he comes along, if not, then ya have college comming up and youll have more of an open option there.

And if you ever need to talk to somebody, just PM or IM me, I'll be happy to help. :D

Wow, that made me feel really good. BUt sometimes I feel like being "me" just isn't enough. Ya know? Somtimes I feel like no guy is ever gonna want me. And that I'm gonna be an old unmarried lady with fifty cats (not that that's bad or anything, I like cats...but still I'd like to be married and have kids.) Anyway, What, thanks for your chat. You seem like a great guy. Your girlfriend is lucky to have you as her man. Congrats to you both. I hope you stay together much longer!:)

Me too, I seriously would love to marry her one day. She's a great gal. Sure we have our rough times, but we always come through. I love her. ANd the good news is that we are both going to the same college so we should be good there.:D

Well being "me" (you)is sometimes the hardest thing to do in today's pressured society. I guarntee you that your not going to end up old and unmarried with 50 cats (/me shrutters at the thoughts of cats...allergies galore), maybe 49, but not 50 (sorry couldnt resist.:D ) Seriously though, you will find the perfect guy for you, or he will find you. Just be patient, your what, 16, 17? You still have alot more of your life left. Don't jump into anything. I know I'm sounding like a parent here but seriously, dont go for some guy whos going to take advantage of you, it's not worth it. I think its better to wait around for somebody you trully love and go with them.

Take care of yourself, and remember, if you need me, I'm just an IM away.

I'm completely 110% behind What here. You seem like a great girl and if you're boyfriend can't see that than it's his loss and he doesn't deserve any girl with half, no, even a quarter or your worth (Which is still a fair amount :D). Never let a guy like that drag you down. Like What said, just be yourself and you'll be fine. It may take longer to find a guy, but when you do you'll probably have more in common and most likely have a much better relationship. And you won't end up alone with just your cats for company. And yes, it may seem like there's so little time left and that you need someone now, but you really don't. There is plenty of time left, and once you get to college there will be even more guys, and I'm sure all of them will want to date you. Just hang in there, forget about that guy, and you'll be fine.

Remember, never underestimate you're worth!!!!

Oh, and if you ever want to talk with me either, I'm always happy to talk, even if it means doing homework at 4 a.m. I never sleep anyways, so never feel like you're intruding.

My experiance with girlfriends is you respect them and should refrain from any sort of deciet, just be yourself. Your ex sounds like a royal arse for doing that to you. My advice would be go for the guys that have brains and manners. We tend to be fairly stable guys with slightly more long term goals than other guys... now if I can only find a girl that likes RPG's and counter strike...
