Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
so? people shouldnt care. they should learn to accept people for who they actually are and not their sexual orientation. it shouldn't be a deviding factor, not to me at least. yes i think there would be some awkwardness to it at first, but that should be over by the time going out into the field comes in to play.

Caffran is right in some cases. Division in war can be a major factor when teamwork is used 100% of the time on the fields. I mean, lets all face reality right now. Yes people should not judge gay guys just because they're gay and could possibly hit on you. The fact of the manner is, saying this doesn't mean its reality. As we all know, MANY people out there in the world are strongly against gays. The second they see some guy checking them out, they'll do something about it. As much as we want people to accept gay people like people of the same sex, many will just always have that certain tension on the field. As for me, i believe gays should be in war though. The more people, the better right?
BTW -- heey course notes remember me??! im baaaaack =DDDD
I am MiCHAEL. roar. oh heck yes.. smilies! ;) :D
i know division is bad...i just think people should be more accepting...

SCENE: IRAQ
[We see our two heroes in the midst of an intense firefight.]
Marine 1: *shooting people*
Marine 2: *shooting people*
Marine 1: Phew! That was tiring. All that killing.
Marine 2: Yep.
Marine 1: You hear they want to let gays do this with us?
Marine 2: Disgusting.
Marine 1: Seriously.
Marine 2: I mean, I just can't stand being around that kind of immorality.
Marine 1: Yeah bro. Can't a guy go kill some people without some dude who likes dudes all up in his business? It's just so sinful and wrong.
Marine 2: *fires at oncoming insurgent* Got 'em.
Marine 1: Sweet.
END SCENE.
ahem.
It all comes down to keeping the soldiers as stress free as possible while doing their duties. Think about this, if you are a sailor you sleep within 3 feet of at least 2 other guys. You have enough stress just doing your job and being far from home. If you throw in somebody who is gay you are going to make a whole bunch of uncomfortable people. Unneeded stress only lowers morale and increases tension in a place that needs to be as efficient as possible.
Unlike the racial segregation of the Armed Forces years ago that were motivated by the thought that black people couldn't fight as well as a white people, this situation is about the bad consequence of intentionally putting friction into the Armed Services.

I agee, but think for a minute. Say you are about to take a big exam. You are sitting next to a member of the opposite sex who you either A. find revolting B. are quite attracted to or C. are friends with but they are making sexual advances upon you. Now with them in close proximity during a time of concentration, don't you think you may be distracted a bit?
I agree that acceptance is good but honestly it doesn't neccesarily work well in this case. It would be great to have no barriers because of sexual orientation, but it's just not realistic at this point in time.

Lord, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people I had to kill becau
An interesting thing I've noticed here is that alot of people here wants everybody to be more accepting of each other. I find it slightly humorous to think that if people were more accepting we'd not even need to be discussing the military because we wouldn't really have one.

That would be the ideal, yes.
But since we do need an Army the Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy works just fine. It allows the gay people who want to serve their country to serve and it also keeps the friction between soldiers as low as can be expected.
A win-win I suppose.

Word.
Not to be legalistic or stuck up or anything, I honestly think there's a difference and I just wanted to make the correction.
He says love your neighbor, not accept your neighbor. I think the heart behind what you were saying is right though. You don't damn people because their gay. You don't damn people period, but American Christians have really made this issue much more complicated than it needs to be. I think anyways.
This will probably be offensive, but hey, it's a debate forum right?
I believe that homosexuality is a sin. The Bible clearly teaches that, (though many people try to argue against that). However, the Bible also teaches that lust, lying, stealing, etc. etc. is a sin. What's the difference? No one condemns me cause I lie or gossip or hate or slander....I just notice a horrible inconsistancy in the church this way.
Sorry, this wasn'y the religious debate forum ;-)
