Describe how the French colonized North America. What was life like in French North America in the 1700s?
-Thanks in advance to everyone

The only things I can remember was how the style of life, ect was diffrent because of the opposite ways they treated Indians. They became more 'mountain men'-like? Then there's the Cajuin life in New Orleans (the first part is Quebec, I think). This is all off the top of my head, don't know how much of a help it really is to ya, fjai.

French originally colonized Amer. for wealth. They were looking for a fur trading business (originally) with Native Americans so they didn't settle very populously because that would mean timber would be cut down (which is where the animals lived). Their major settlement was Acadia, where they had a lot of trade & fishing going on. They maintained good relations with Native American tribes -for the most part, because they allied with them later in the French and Indian War-. Um, they also had a settlement in Louisiana and the interior of the US which they had to give up a major portion up of in the F&I War.
As for how they lived, they were rough, (like someone said above) mountain men, did lots of trading and stuff.
