AP Notes, Outlines, Study Guides, Vocabulary, Practice Exams and more!
My AP class is reading Brinkley's American History, A Survey.
This is my first experience having to read a large number of pages from a textbook, and it seems like it's taking a lot of time already.
I was just wondering, should I be taking notes while reading, or go back and scan the book while reviewing for tests and essays?
Also, any other advice you can give on how to do better in the class would be really helpful. This is my first AP experience!

I don't know how you learn, but I simply read the textbook assignments and was fine in the class. But I can read something once and remember it very well for a test. I didn't take any notes all year in APUSH.
It really depends more on your learning style.

If you are allowed to highlight in the text book, i'de suggest you do so. If not, then get a piece of paper and do two colums, one side have questions, and the other side have answer, and fold them, and study it tht way. If you dont get it tell me...

What you could do is print out the chapter notes from this site and use them like sparknotes. Read the book with the chapter note stuff and put extra explanation or extra info if you feel like you need to.
I think reading and understanding should be sufficient. I don't take notes, I don't think anyone does. If you want notes, this site has 'em for you.

you don't have to take paragraph type notes
just a simple sentence rephrasing what you said
I don't really take notes per se. I find random topics to write essays on.
Take notes, it helps. That's the way I remember everything for APUSH. I almost always never review my notes because once you write it down, it's easier to remember, so I just look at my class notes for that.
i read the chapter go to the books home page take the quiz and then go to apnotes.com
If you cannot highlight (we can at my school) then you can always go to my favorite way to take notes.
Post It Notes.
Write down facts or questions you have and sticky that page. The sticky note allows enough space between the pages to find exactly where you markered it, and you can also find the area where the question is easier.
I have about 400 stickies in my The American Pageant 12th Edition and about 100 in my Amsco Advanced Placement US History book.
