Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
Depends on the teacher really. I didn't even have quizzes, just tests. You're quizes will probably all be MC, but you might have a few short answer ones. But it's completely up to you're teacher. There were some people last year that didn't even do any essays until early second semester (AP test suicide unless you do them alot afterwards). Good luck with your class and let us know if you need some help!

I had two 10 point quizzes all year. And they were throwaway. The teacher basically gave us the answers during the quiz.
Everything I did was a multiple choice test and essays.

We did 20 pt quizzes about once a week; they were all on a chapter in the book we were supposed to read, and all MC. Then during 2nd semester, my teacher started to give us old AP test MC ?'s to help us with our studying. I'm really glad that THOSE weren't graded. But on the tests themselvs, it all depends on the teacher's personal prefrence. Althoug, most will try to model them after the AP test. Weee

School started for me August 10th, and my first AP US History test is this Thursday. The teacher claims to be a big fan of character-building, so she's throwing all these worksheets at us and telling us to do them all by a certain date.
So yeah, I have to do them today. The worksheets... and the terms.

my teacher doesn't beleive in quizzes he says its a waste of his time to grade because if we didn't bother reading the chapters it jsut means we have to cram come test times. he give us two test a quarter, a debate, a teaching project, and two papers. we don't have quizzes but he does lots of class discussions which test what we read and participation is a big part of our grade
Well, my class is pretty relaxed. Everyday in class she just asks us a bunch of questions and chooses a random lucky person in the audience to answer it. That means you gotta be on the ball... She almost never picks on me though.
If she picks on you, you're supposed to find the answer in the book. That's why I always look like I'm busy in the textbook... she tends to choose the students who look like they're daydreaming.
Trust me, it's hard NOT to daydream in that class. She goes on a tangent about modern day issues and somehow relates it back to US history, it's like the chaos theory on a string, it's weird.
Anyway, that's what we do. Rarely she'll give us content frames and worksheets... She grades everything easy EXCEPT tests and test-grade assignments.... the 30% "freebies" are to float our grade.
I got a 90 on the last test the other day. I was like, WOW. Did not expect that. Hahahah I was ballllin on that multiple choice though

pianogirl2422 wrote:Yeah, don't mind Shadow. What probably happened is that you're not used to AP level questions. It takes some getting used to having choices where one is right, one is soo very close to being right ("the distracter" is what my teacher called it), and three choices that are all plausible. You'll start to notice that unlike your other social science courses where teachers were mainly concerns with "what happened when?". Now questions are going to be "why did something happen, why is it significant, and what were the effects?" It will also help if you learn your learning type. It'll get easier as you learn what to look for when you're reading. I'd be happy to help you if you want, just send me a PM.
Oh, and welcome back Mike.
The good part is, if you can learn to think that way, it's more logic that memorizing random facts.
Multiple Choice? GASP. I don't even know what that is anymore.

You don't get MC?! Now that's weird.
Here are a few tips:
1. Learn WHY things happened.
2. Learn the CAUSES of events.
3. Learn the SIGNIFICANCE of the information.
4. Learn the PURPOSE of the information.
5. Learn the EFFECTS of the information.
haha, but what I did for the exam was process of elimination if I really don't know the answer from the beginning. Go through each choice and think of anything that would make it wrong. It works.

That's what my teacher did. Forces you to know the facts rather then having the option to guess a random letter. It ends up making MC easier.
