Howdy! :)

Hi everyone!

I'm Madeline, but you can call me Madeen (as it is my nickname). I go to tiny highschool in a tiny town in the middle of Nowhere, NC. I'm taking APUSH this year, and may I say that this site was a wonderful help in preparing for my first test yesterday.

I like history, sociology, philosophy, psychology, filmmaking, and politics. I support Barack Obama. The only person I'd vote for other than Obama is Jon Stewart. I created my own political party in Civics last year, and I remain loyal to it. It is called H.I.P.P.I.E.S. which stands for Honest Individuals Preparing People for the Inevitable End of Society. :D

I like reading fantasy and historical books. My two favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien and Stephen Ambrose. My favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Phantom of the Opera. My favorite artists are John Mellencamp and The Jonas Brothers. My favorite actors are Johnny Depp and Gerard Butler.

I guess that is enough info for you to go on for now. If there is anything else you are just dying to know, send me a pm.

Well, welcome to the site! Are you taking any other APs this year, or is APUSH it?

Oh, and how do I subscribe to your political party- I like the sound of it! :D

Thanks :)
I'm also taking AP English 3 this semester. Next semester I don't have any AP classes.

Haha;) Sure you can join. Just let me know and I'll add you to the list which, by the way, already has 2 people on it... including me. lol But I should warn you that I had the same teacher for Civics as I now have for APUSH, and he wrote in my yearbook last year that he would destroy H.I.P.P.I.E.S. this year. But the H.I.P.P.I.E.S. aren't going anywhere.

H.I.P.P.I.E.S.

Sounds like something my APUSH teacher would love; Can I join?

Pray tell, did you comes up with the acronym first? ;)

Sure, everyone is welcome to join! :) You must have an awesome APUSH teacher. I love Coach to death, but he picks on me about H.I.P.P.I.E.S. all the time. And yes, I did come up with the acronym first:rolleyes: , but I was reading Endgame Vol. 1 at the time, and if you have read that, then you might better understand why I chose the wording that I did.

Ah, Endgame Vol. 1
Haven't read it, but someone else in APUSH certainly rants about it enough. He also happens to be a Bush supporter, ironic huh?

That's very ironic... has he ever explained why he feels Bush and the principles in Endgame are compatible? Well, even if this person has "ranted" about Endgame too much, you should still check it out sometime. It's a very informative read; though, there is a tendency to be depressed while reading it, but don't let that stop you. :)

Thanks, I will.

Oh Lord NO! Believe me, I had enough of The Crucible while student directing it last year. Due to casting problems, both myself and the director had to actually take on a role. Plus, we read it in English this year.

That, and our Abigail (after casting issues) said something along those lines during our last Dress Rehearsal. We also ran in-between the trees on the set. What can I say, with a play that's so serious, we needed to let off some steam. Abby's shoes also got stolen, "Search your sole" :D

At least he hasn't made any bird jokes yet.

Wow, that must have been really annoying to have both of you take on roles... Don't you hate it when people steal props? In the school production last year, the day before our first performance during the last period of the day, some idiot guys from my grade destroyed the set and stole a lot of important props. What makes them really idiotic is that they went around bragging about it afterwards. Needless to say, they got in some deep crap for that.

Well, I hadn't read The Crucible before this year, and I really like it, and I'm excited because we're going to go on a fieldtrip to see it performed. And trust me, Mr. Parrish, has come up with just about every perverted joke possible with that play and told it to us. He scares me sometimes... But I know what you mean about getting sick of something. Last year I was in a history seminar class, and we went through a two-week unit about the presidents from Truman through Reagan. And then immediately afterwards, we went through a three-week unit on Nixon alone. So by the end of that, I was throughly sick of talking about him. Unfortunately, in Civics class, we had been talking about court cases, and the very next day after wrapping up Nixon in Seminar we started discussing US vs Nixon. I almost cried.

Sorry about the rambling. I tend to do that. :o

Ouch, those poor props. At least ours were stolen in jest. (And thrown around during the Court scene)
Although Russ (our director) really let some idiots have it during "Little Shop of Horrors"...they were messing with Audrey II

Geez, Nixoned-out much?

At least when my SAT prep teacher goes on about the Latin terms I learned during my first year of Latin, I can happily doodle.

Oh, and everyone rambles/rants/raves. It's part of life methinks.

Yup- ranting is healthy. If you ever need a laugh, just go over to the Off-Topic Thead and read some of the back pages...talk about random ranting...hehe, sorry.

Our drama club (well, at my old High School, at least) had really funny pranks, but everyone knew better than to touch the props. NO ONE wanted the rage of the drama teacher to fall down on them- she was really scary when angry.

Oh, and sighn me up for H.I.P.P.I.E.S. It's something that I belong in :D. Now I just gotta read Endgame...
