I'm in dire need of help on writing my essay. I'm guessing its on the Chapters we just finished last week, Chapters seven and eight. I need help with a good introduction paragraph. Also, my essay should be about these three main points:
- Did these acts represent as abusing power?
- Is it King George III's fault for Jefferson writing up the Declaration of Independence?
- Was Jefferson accurate on the Declaration of Independence?
So far I just have..
When new laws are enforced, the people must follow, otherwise they fall under heavy consequences depending on the act people had done. The Navigation Laws, first introduced in 1650, was the first act of tyranny inflicted against the colonies. King George III was not the tyrant Jefferson made him to be.

Okay, so I'm guessing that your essay is going to place King George III in a nicer light, right? I would first start off by talking about two of the the main acts that were enacted against the colonies by England and how the colonies reacted to them; were they received in a friendly or hostile manner and why. For the second part about King George's fault... I would talk about how the colonies tried to contact England and get fair representation, but were denied. That would lead into why Jefferson wrote the D of I. From there you can go into if Jefferson portrayed the "grievances" accurately or not. Hope this helps.

Okay, while the facts were presented in a nice, concise manner and outlined the ways the king had offended the colonies, since the king had no set of rules which he had to follow when governing the colonies. So while these are all valid reasons for us today which we could prosecute governing officials for, they were not arguements that would hold in any court in that day in age, and therefore were little more than "emotional pleas" by the colonists in the eyes of the English government.
That's my opinion, feel free to take it or leave it.
