I have a FRQ due on Monday and we just got it on thrusday. =] I am stumped on this topic. I can't really make up my mind which one to support. If someone can help that would be awesome!
The Debate over orgins of the American Revolution reflects two schools of interpretation.The Nationalist scholars see the revolution as an idealistic expression of political llibertires and a defense of those liberties. The Progressive Scholars view the revolution in terms of social and econmic upheaveals that ignited a revolt aganist both the mother country and power and privilege in the states Which of these"schools" has it right?
Well, the good thing is it's opinionated. So as long as you've got your facts right and can back it up, you'll do just fine. As for deciding, make a list on the pros and cons for both views. The one you have the most information and feel confident that you can back it up well can be the one you'll base it on.

Hmm, so basically the topic is just "was the Revolution based off ideals or economics?" Well, you can argue that either way, and as bassoonist@large said, it is opinionated so they can't really count down on which you choose. Personally, I think that the Economics/Social revolt is easier to argue (the 2nd). Obviously the Townsend Acts and all the other taxes were the main cause of the revolution, and the power of the British coming down on the colonists angered the colonists after such a long time under salutary neglect. So, you could argue those points.
