Here's what the SAT review course said to me...

Ok so I went to the SAT course and they said to have alot of caffiene on that morning so that you're fully awake and that you should take some practice tests before you go to the real SAT so that you're brain is working, but here are some other tips that they gave out (**I hope this helps, everyone!!:p ):

I. Preparing for the SATs...
1. If you are running short on study time, NEVER cram in new information...relax and review what you already know.
2. If you have the time, learn new vocabulary for that is a biggie on the new versions of the exam. (read, puzzles, flash cards, etc.)
3. SATs change from year to year, so don't rely on only one source.
- There is a .25 points penalty for each wrong guess you make!!

II. the essays will be graded on a 6-point scale basis.
- graded by fast readers, so be straight-forward
- intro should start out with your thesis immediately, and organization scores you basically the most points (3 out of 6 points!!)!!
- essays counts as 30% of your overall writing portion of the test
- Obey the rules!!! (limited space provided, NEver go beyond it, penalties!! can't exceed the 25 minutes either...and you have to indent each paragraph by .5 inches, but never double space your writing!!)
- Don't sweat the small stuff..keep intros and conclusions short! and don't ever try to change the topic!!
- PACE YOURSELF!
- 3 body points needed (write from weakest point to strongest point..more persuasion that way!)

III. The multiple choice question
-Gain knowledge on the types of questions
- know the directions on how to answer, but don't spend too much time on any one question!
-learn strategies!!!
-if you can, eliminate at least 1-2 answers (5 are provided)
-pace yourself (Don't Skip...answer easy questions first then go back to the harder ones!)
-use the test booklet as your scratch paper!
~Never read the long passages...takes too much time...
- get the questions and then go back to search for answers!!
-READ very carefully!!!!
-find clues within the questions...
-there is NEVER more than one answer (the "all of the aboves" or "none of the aboves" are never right...just there to mislead you!)
-if looking for vocab definitions, never ever go for the most commonly used definition, they are usually there to misguide you!
-Pronouns will always have to refer back to the noun **specifically
~ALWAYS PLAN FIRST
---calculators can speed you up with math, but they cannot think for you!

IV. Math is ALWAYS organized from the easiest to the hardest!!!
- look for the easy plug it in problems!!!
-never go for the "it cannot be determined"...they are out to trick you!!!

V. SPRs (Student Produced Responses)
- NEVER guess!
- cannot be penalized for guessing. Won't get you anywhere though!
- -the Order of Operations if extremely important on the exam!
- practice with your calculator first, so you won't need to during the test!! (Bring fresh batteries in case it runs out during the exam!)
- set up prob on paper first and NEVER use the "memory button" it might give you the wrong information.
- turn fractions into decimals!!
**SPRs count as 35% of all the math questions!

~ Resist the urge to give out---bring candy to keep yourself awake!!

For the grid-ins
- be careful with the mixed numbers
- no negative answers will ever be the answer!!
- leave your answer to the left when writing into the write-in answers...

Thats awesome thread. Basically the same thing for all ACT, with the exception that guess even if you don't have a clue because there is no penalty for wrong answers.

May we never forget the sacrifice we all make.
May we always follow the higher power.
