he was a first leutenant in the army and then also in the reserve...they were decomissioned pieces of weaponry which he was allowed to take home...but from his exploits in the military, he knows how to improvise. he showed me how to make the launchers useful and operational if need be. yes i do realize that that would be the exception. but think of how many ppl have come out of the service w/ weapons and arent able to adapt to this new life. ppl are smart and criminals dont just go into things w/o thinking them through...usually. most people realize that if they are that deep into things and figure the only way out is to fight, a loaded automatic weapon is a salvation. pistols take more accuracy and dont create as much damage. i can understant ppl like SWAT Riot Control being allowed but of what use is an automatic weapon to a cop pulling someone over for speeding?

See because of gun CONTROL,the ex military would not need to carry weapons and so wouldn't have them. And if they don't fit into society and don't pass strict requirements, then they wouldn't be able to get a license to keep them.

Yes civilians can own automatic weapons, but there is a huge test to get through.
Maybe if someone wanted to buy a gun they would have to take a few tests to see if they are competent enough to use a gun properly-Just like my friend Rudy Giuliani.

................................................thats just it. people in the military HAVE A RIGHT AND PERMITANCE TO BEAR ARMS AFTER BEING A SOLDIER. not the same rights as a normal citizen. they have been trained to use these types of weapons and are permited to purchase up to a certain amount of weaponry w/o being checked too much. its an honor granted to them. at a certain rank they get to keep weaponry. say they get old and die, where do the weapons go? inheritance. to thieir children and grandchildren. or they're sold. the black market accepts things like that kindly. thats how most criminals of today get weapons. its not a question of gun conrol on selling but where the weapon goes when they no longer have a use of it. is that a better assumption of what you may be trying to say. if it is than i agree. i believe that if you are an american citizen you have the right to bear arms in this country. its stated in the constitution. i have always believed this to be unchanging. who cares about early times or modernism. the founding fathers of our constitution left us that power to change the wording of any law they set into place by them. they knew we would someday be able to fire bullets at 5 rounds per second from a standard hand held weapon some day. while this wasnt their exact wording, they knew someday weapons would be created to surpass even their wildest dreams.

They couldn't have imagined the type of firearms we have today, and as I already said: The Constitution was written hundreds of years ago, when every gun was a single shot weapon that took time to reload. A gun WAS needed to hunt for food, and protect your land. Today... they are not needed and have become increasingly dangerous.

If we did have stricter gun laws, less people would be allowed to own, military background or not, guns. I gave you that chart, and obviously harsher gun laws leads to a decrease in gun violence.

yes but what that chart doesnt show you is the amount of physical violence that those other countrys have compared to the united states. did you know that our phsical violence rate is much lower than several other countrys as said a chart i saw in english class today...srry cant show it as evidence, cant remember the site it was on. the survey was taken in 2005 though so its somewhat recent. while we have less gun crimes, other countrys have physical violence. and not to mention there are more ppl in the united states than many other countrys. therefore, more ppl to comit gun related crimes

of course countrys like russia, china, japan, india are exceptions...but you get the big picture

Well, if those are exceptions then why make that argument
Also, the countries with less strict gun laws may be more violent, but you have to look at their living conditions, leaders and overall lifestyle, so it is not the lack of guns but the country itself that is posing the problem
