So I have a assignment due in a week and I'm having trouble digging up information on the internet about the vocabulary. I have to define the words and then link them to puritan society. I'm having a hard connecting them, or even finding information on them!
-congregationalists
-vernacular Services
-Chrysostom
-Freedom of Consciences
I have put effort into these and I'll keep trying, but if you have any general websites to help on Puritanism, please direct them my way. :)
congregationalists - look it up on dictionary.com, and brush up on puritan society.
vernacular services - again, look it up at dictionary.com, and think about puritan life - HINT there's a word that begins with an S that should come to mind...and it's a gift to be....
Chrysostom - AKA st. john.
freedom of conscience - basically freedom of thought/religion/ideas...basically meaning you're allowed to follow your own path.

If you get stuck again, show me what you've got/what you're thinking, and I'll be less roundabout with the answers

"I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
"But," say Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It
I knew the first one was gonna make me feel stupid, but the others had me messed up. I'll have to look harder then I guess. Thanks for the hints, I'm sure they will help!
for vernacular services, I said that they allowed the common man to become involved with the bible and increased literacy. Therefore, stronger faith along with revolutionary intellect were results upon the Puritan Society. Do you think I'm making the correct connection? I'm having a really hard time figuring out exactly what it means. There are plenty of references to it, but it doesn't out right mention what it means.
I got all the other definitions though!
Shadow:I'm sorry for the double post, i didn't realize...please don't eat me. :)
Addition: I'm having trouble coming up with a reason for existence dealing with Puritans. Of course, they wanted to purify the church of England, but wouldn't that go the concept of "Individual's relationship within/to the Church" better? So maybe their reason for existence has to do with their concpet of Manifest Destiny?
