First of all, I think the chat box is great. It gets you help immediately from people without having to download aim or whatever but I think its not really professional to have it on the main page. It would be better if it had it's own seperate link on the top by Forum.

Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
what?!? i love the chatbox right where it is. i was always under the impression that course-notes was about more than just getting help with your homework. it was also about a sence of community. what better way to promote a feeling of togetherness than to alow us all to shout whatever, whenever. it should be right on the main page or people will forget about it.
all in all, it's just another brick in the wall...
I took: AP US Hist, AP Stats, AP Chem
I am taking: AP Calc, AP English, AP Phsics

Yes but then the quality control goes way down.

I'm with Ferris on this one. While the chatbox is great for getting immediate help, its been to have questions asked on the forum so that there is a future reference for people who might have the same question later on. The search feature is really nice like that :)
What I could consider is creating a chatbox for each subject though? It might not be that active for a while though.

The object of the site is to help students. A "professional image" is certainly a plus, but I believe moving the chat box would hurt the some of the functionality of the website.
Maybe a different place i guess? I just think having it up top look really ugly. Imagine if parents are browsing and there are inappropriate words there.

That's where we moderator's come into play. There is usually a decent flow of us on throughout the day that check the forums and chat box. If there is a problem with an individual, we try to take care of it as quickly and swiftly as possible. In addition, if a user find a problem or has a problem with an individual, we encourage them to contact us immediately.
