Hellllppppp!!! Great gadsby

Hey guys
I really need some help. I have to do a HUGE presentation for about 20 min on the portrayal of women in the Great Gadsby. I really suck at English and analyzing things so I dont know how im gonna talk about this for 20 min straight. Can someone please give me any ideas or information?

First, make a list of every female character in Great Gatsby, add any notes about her appearance and accomplishments or actions.

Second, think of people you know who have done similar actions and what your response to those actions were; it helps to get an idea about the point the author is trying to make.

Third, if you still don't have any ideas, search for "Great Gatsby women;" you'll come up with a few worth while sites. But don't, for the love of Jove, paraphrase or copy anything you find. Use it to spark your mind for similar situations.

Fourth, If you need to make your speech longer, add in a skit that introduces your idea, but if you're a little shier, try to use pauses for effect. Sprinkle them, do not use them constantly or the teacher will discredit you. It'll buy a little time.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Pay the most attention to Daisy-she shows what Fitzgerald thinks of women extraordinarily well.

also, and this is kind of cheating, use the word "um" frequently. unless your teacher marks you down for that sort of thing it is a really good way to lengthen a presentation without actually saying anything. i used this trick all the time in APUSH last year.

all in all, it's just another brick in the wall...

this might be a little late but fitz doesn't think highly of women. they are drawn into the tempations of material goods. play close attention to the way daisy treats her daughter. also, using a lot of quotes and making references to the american mind set during to 20s will add meat. had to do a similar project. maybe add some visual aids.
good luck

Hey all! I know I'm getting here kind of late, but if you're looking for a phenomenal resource on Gatsby, check out http://www.shmoop.com/intro/literature/f-scott-fitzgerald/the-great-gats.... It's well researched and super thorough - and the writers are really funny so it doesn't get boring.
(Actually, www.shmoop.com covers literature, US history, and poetry as general topics. I just graduated from Berkeley, but I still browse it for fun.)
