I have chose to use the following question:

1. "Although Americans perceived Manifest Destiny as a benevolent movement, it was in fact an aggressive imperialism pursued at the expense of others." Assess the validity of this statement with specific reference to American expansionism in the 1840's.

I have started my basically brainstorming but am looking for help to further develop my ideas.

P(olitical) - American Manifest Destiny Belief and the "Spread" of democracy.
E(conomic) -
R(eligious) - Manifest Destiny as the "Will of God"
S(ocial) - Anglo-Saxon Superiority to other races in social matters.
I(ntellectual) - ^^Angle Saxon intellect being superior to that of Blacks & Indians
A(rt) - Probably not going to use this.

Do any of you have any further ideas that can help me expand this out.

Any help would be appreciated, thanx.

Hmmm... I hope it's not too late to help, but this site is a great resource with a lot of perspectives on Manifest Destiny: http://www.shmoop.com/intro/history/us/manifest-destiny-mexican-american... . It's well researched and super thorough, but the writing style is light and fun.
Actually, www.shmoop.com is a fantastic site in general. It covers literature, US history, and poetry, not to mention it's pretty hilarious. I just graduated from Berkeley but I still browse it for fun.
