pair of lines in a poem are rhymed
metric unit (foot) of verse, having one stressed syllable followed by two unstressed syllable (ex: carefully)
literal meaning of the word (ex: home is where you live)
varying forms of a language that reflect particular regions, occupations, or social classes and that are similar enough to be mutually intelligible
choice of words and vocabulary
having the primary purpose of teaching or instructing
revealing one-way conversation by a character usually directed to a second person or imaginary audience
A sorrowful poem or speech
the continuation of a syntactic unit from one line of verse into the next line without a pause
a witty saying expressing a single thought or observation, often satirical (ex: I'm not young enough to know everything)
