205445000PuritansJohn Winthrop arrived after the charter through Massachusetts Bay Company. Puritans emigrated as nuclear families. The center of the community was their faith in God, and they aspired to create a "city on a hill." They wanted to purify the Catholic Church of England of all Catholic aspects.9
205445001QuakersThey were extreme believers in antinomanialism that believed that anyone's interpretation of the Bible was as good as the next. They were commonly known as the Professors of light or Friends.10
205445002House of BurgessesThis was a representative assembly. They first convened in 1619. Even thought the elections were hardly democratic, the assembly provided the wealthy planters with voice in the government. The representation assembly gathered, even without the authorization of the king.11
205445003Indentured ServantsThey were the newcomers who worked for a master for a certain period of time. They were promised land at the moment of their freedom, but they were most often cheated.12
205445004AntinomianismThese were the confusing ideas of Anne Hutchinson. Her teachings could not be tested by the Scriptures. Her teachings invited civil and religious anarchy.13
205445005John WinthropHe signed the Cambridge Agreement to go to Massachusetts. The became the governor of Massachusetts Bay. He wanted to create a "city upon a hill." .14
205445006Anne HutchinsonHer teachings were known as Antinomianism. Her teachings could not be tested by the Scriptures. Her teachings invited civil and religious anarchy. Some men hated her for her audacity.15
