was a loose alliance of independent states
had a 1-house legislature
no executive or judicial branches
only states can tax
states were allowed to coin money
no regulations of trading, especially btween states
power was held mostly by the states
a farmer (Daniel _____) gathered up other farmers to get the artillery from the arsenal b/c they couldn't pay debts with $ or crops--Mass. militia stopped them
made a national gov't representing all Americans
bicameral legislature
had a Executive Branch
had a Judicial Branch
Congress could tax everyone
only national gov't could coin money
national gov't regulated almost all trade, except for a couple things like slaves
power was held mostly by the national gov't
made during summer in Philadelphia, ratified Sept. 17, 1787
defined how slaves would be counted for population
allowed two houses in legislature--one based on population (House of Representatives) and another with 2 people for each state (Senate)
