An intrusion by the narrator in order to evaluate a character for a reader
(also Authorial Intrusion) The effect that occurs when a third-person narrator adds his or her own comments into the narrative.
a mournful poem
a note or reference placed at the end of a document
Rhyme that occurs at the end of two or more lines of poetry
A line that ends with a natural speech pause, usually marked by punctuation
consists of three quatrains with the rhyme pattern "abab," cdcd," "efef" followed by a couplet with the pattern "gg"
a moment of sudden revelation or insight
a brief stanza concluding certain forms of poetry
a long narrative poem telling of a hero's deeds
very short poem, often comic, usually ending with some sharp turn of wit or meaning
a quotation at the beginning of some piece of writing
a brief section of a literary or dramatic work that forms part of a connected series
A novel composed wholly or primarily of letters. Unfolds through the written documents passed from person to person.
repetition of the ends of two or more successive sentences, verses, etc.
the study of word origins
pleasant, harmonious sound
perfect rhyme, such as buzz and fuzz
a detailed explanation of the meaning of something
an account that sets forth the meaning or intent of a writing or discourse
rhyme that appears correct from spelling but does not rhyme because of pronunciation
