same author as previous citation
et al.; used for more than three authors or editors in a citation
list of sources with a brief description
used for clarifying information provided by the author within a quotation
used to show words or information is omitted in a quotation (use 4 for end of sentence)
citations collected at the end of a paper (using footnote format); for these you must use the same superscript number in paper; place before Bibliography, Works Cited, or References
and others; used for more than 3 authors or editors in a citation
citation for source placed at the bottom of the same page where source is referred to in text and marked with superscript
"in the same place"; 2nd mention for same work with none between
not citation; add comments, explanations or additional material
"in the work cited"; refers to prior reference by same author
clarifying comment placed in brackets, meaning writer recognized an error in the original but is repeating exactly
number placed 1/2 space above line to designate footnote, endnote, or note
