Improved banking system starting with the Medici, Merchants more profitable, political rule based on ability to improve, armies/technologies improve, and diplomacy (ambassadors met and discussed). Trade = wealth = power. Inventions and techniques from Asia (pulleys, strong metals, etc), smaller nuclear families emphasized, printing press = literacy increase, and importance of family emphasized. WHEN: 1350 WHERE: Italy WHY: RELIGION LOSES POWER! People view more on the sciences and arts and make huge cultural and scientific leaps forward. Trade = wealth = power.37

Culture of Italy (art/architecture, greek/latin literature, humanist vernacular/own language, popular culture of writers such as bodily funcitons and human passions) all diffused. Political change = more profit and trade, but economy doesn't improve much. Military conquests, and fuedal and religious leaders losing power. Women = more domestic. Inventions and techniques from Asia (pulleys, strong metals, etc), smaller nuclear families emphasized, printing press = literacy increase, and importance of family emphasized. WHEN: 1400s+ WHERE: Europe WHY: Diffusion of Italian culture and ideas, explained in the what section. Induces the type of thinking Humans have today, and most importantly GAVE FALL TO THE POWER OF RELIGION.38
253177221Protestant ReformationWHO: Germans, WHAT: Reforms started with Martin Luther, the German Monk, stating his 95 Theses against the Catholic Church telling them that monasticism is wrong, and more focus should be put on individual worship and actions, not money and focus on the Church and only Latin. Eventually political leaders (didn't want to pay pope's taxes, gain more land and control over church and Holy Roman Empire) and Ordinary people (more careers seen as good, its okay to make and keep money, more power to the common man as the rich were better off in the Catholic Church, etc) began believing in Luther's views. Practically another schism between the Catholic church. WHEN: 1517 WHERE: Holy Roman Empire, Germany, Europe pretty much. WHY: Protestant religion formed, other ethnicity can now worship translated Christianity, more money and power to the common people, less power to Catholic church.39

Free people = progress, feminist thinkers, changes in habits and beliefs such as reading, treating kids nicer, love between family members, etc. More emphasis on capitalism, population increase, new agricultural societies, and overall technology come into place.51

WHEN: 1500s+ WHERE: Europe WHY: Affected intellectual life and promoted change in popular outlook. Weakens Church, stops Witchcraft trials, scientific reasoning, more doctors with actual science, lost and found newspaper section? IMPORTANTLY RELIGION WEAKENED (Miracles? Faith? HAH! Silly fool, I'm with science and I like diesm). UNIQUE, chinese, muslims, etc didn't think this way with scientific improvement, and Europe is going after pure science. The west is now the center of advancement.52

So, absolute monarchy comes into place (French based) where parliament doesn't meet, castles are blown up, bureaucratic comes from merchants/lawyers, representatives to provinces, professional army, King holds total power, government is culturally involved, mercantilism (protect economy of nation), and Versailles are used. WHEN: 1600s? WHERE: Europe (Spain, Prussia/Germany, Austria/Hungary). WHY: Style of Monarchy where the King holds almost complete power and is completely involved in the country, using administers and what not. Important as some states were destroyed by this, and some grew strong.54
