I'm not taking AP English, but I'm taking an english course at a college. I read The Scarlet Letter and The Great Gatsby two years ago. The scarlet letter wasn't really that bad for us. At least it was better than The Crucible. I love the Great Gatsby though. I had to do a project and a paper using the intrepretation methods, whatever you call them, in a small black book that I think was for AP. Anyways, I've also read Huck Finn and several others, so I'll be glad to offer advice if anyone needs it.

I'm not too sure that I see that connection...

I'm almost in an AP english class... we're covering almost the same material (reading The Scarlet Letter currently, then the Crucible and Huck Finn) but we don't get the test at the end. :( it was the closest my high school offered to a junior APENG class.

Ah, I can see that it's completely horrible for a guy to enjoy a book. God forbid you guys should be literate.

I'm in apENG 11, we're reading Walden now.. it's soooooo tedious because our teacher makes us read 50 pages of it a night (we had to read the first chapter, Economy, all of it in one night :( )

Finished the Scarlet Letter
We got to pick a collateral reading book, I picked In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.

Wow, I am in Lit/Lang and I loved all these books ya'll are talking about...I am going to give the Scarlett letter another chance though because my teacher was crazy with it, she interpretted it all wrong. She told us random stuff that didn't make sense with anything in the book so I didn't enjoy it, but i want to give it another chance. I loved the Great Gatsby! I did that one in tenth grade! We did a bunch of symbolism, and analysis and then had a twenties themed party in class! We got to dress up and everything!!
