in terms of exclusion and prohibition you could tackle the fact that the salem community was very parochial and they were true fanatical christian believers and how ironic it is that a foreign religios cult--Tituba's--swiftly attracted the religious girls of Salem into pagan rituals that were berrated in their community--this could also be part of the paradoxical meaning of the story itself. Thus, we can appreciate both the exclusion of foreign religions (also support it with an allusion to the Maryland community) and the prohibition of any rituals born from such creed.
This is just a quick comment. You might try to reread the opening (if you haven't done it already).
