Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
Hahaha! I'm back; if people forgot about me... :(
Anyways, about this illegal immigration. I'm going to agree with Pianogirl with this one. No offense USMA, but I don't think illegal immigrants are disrupting America at all. In fact, they help U.S. by stimulating the economy. How? Let's see, they work in jobs no one wants (despite wages lower than minimum wage), they don't even get welfare because they're not citizens so the government doesn't have to worry them, and they spend their hard-earned money back into the American circulation to barely live by what they have; they don't "suckle" dollars. U.S. losing money? Hardly.
Even if U.S. did speed up immigration, you need to realize that you need MONEY to immigrate to America. Look at the legal immigrants who come America. Many of them are able to live here because they're financially stable. Unfortunately for the Mexican citizens, do they have any money? No. So do you think they can easily come into America? Not really. So why do you think they come here illegally? America is a land of opportunity. The Mexicans come here to give their kids the chance to live better lives than the lives left behind by their forefathers. Consider American history. How did THEY come here? Immigration of course! And what about these immigrants; the Irish, the Germans, the Polish, etc.? Didn't they come to the New World for economic opportunities? So then why can't the Mexicans come here, illegally? After all, didn't these Anglo-Saxon settlers, in the eyes of the Native Americans, ILLEGALLY came to their land and made a prosperous nation? i.e., where's the document or some form of legal agreement between two parties that the whites can settle on their (Native Americans) land and build houses?
Moreover, these people are poor. Had the Mexican government in the past was not corrupted, the current generation of Mexicans wouldn't have suffer like they do today.
And sending back the people would be a pretty poor choice. Businesses rely on them for extremely cheap labor (like where I live; prices of houses are jumping up but many of the workers don't get a raise...strange isn't it?) so if they were sent back to Mexico, what happens? Businesses will fail thus dropping the economy. Who will build the houses? Who will collect the grapes? Who will clean your business offices? Who will clean your bathrooms? Certainly not you. It's because of these illegal immigrants we don't have to worry about cleaning our bathrooms. It's because of these Mexicans we don't have to worry about getting food from stores. And thanks to them, we can prosper.

Wow, I may just faint! I completely agree with AP Work R on this issue. On everything, go figure. (And btw, I at least could never forget about you. You're too much fun to argue with, even if it's a bit tiring :D )
And to address USMA, my plan is pretty much this:
1) Get on better terms with the other american countries
2) Help to improve the quality of education of those countries
3) After some time offer some help improving the economies of the countries
4) If ever asked, offer minor political guidance
But hey, I'm not that great at concocting intricate plans involving foreign nations, but that's the basic outline. Call me optimistic, but I think with the right guidance at least a few of these points are possible in the not so distant future.
Okay, now as to you comparing our giant wall to the Berlin Wall and the Great Wall of China. Yeah, they kept people out, but if you look at history you'll see that when you build a barrier on the land, it also creates a barrier in people's minds. If we follow the trend that these two set up then we will have even less consideration for the people beyond the wall and will become more and more distant to them. I want to know how that's a good thing for us? We're already seen as being ignorant towards the plight of other countries (when we're not invading them of course), and the progressive lack of care that will almost certainly follow the building of such a wall would certainly make us look even worse. We cannot ignore the third world countries forever, just as you cannot ignore the plight of the poor within your own country. If you want proof of that, all you have to do is look at the history of Europe. To me building that wall is a very immature way of dealing with the problem. It's like if you get a bad grade, so you hide your report card instead of showing it to your parents. Or you find a stain on the rug and don't want to deal with it, so you put a rug over it instead of cleaning it up. This is a problem that we need to face head on. So I say that we find a real solution, not a quick fix.
And lastly, your response to my hypothetical war in Europe:
1) Was referring to the impact on the immigration pattern
2) How would a huge influx of people mess with the border patrol in Mexico when they'd most likely be going to New York or other places on the coast? I mean, sure they'd need some people, but I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to hire more people, especially with unemployment rates the way they are now. Not to mention there'd probably be volunteers if necessary.
3) You never said what to do with the refugees until they're old enough to take the test. Is it really fair to let them have an education that they aren't paying for since they're not citizens and therefore not paying taxes to fund it? Can they really take advantage of those things that we, as american taxpayers, paid for like parks, libraries, soup kitchens, etc.? I mean, really, it's not like they're doing anything to help maintain them, or their parents for that matter since they're not citizens yet.

I was writing my response earlier this week when I met some unexpected delays. Couple that with a week long trip I must take making it impossible to put up my reply until I return. Expect my response no earlier than the 11th but rather closer to the 13th.
