(Yes I know when. The point is, that debate took place in the early years of the US, when how to interpret the constitution was a big issue. While there still exists debate over some elements of the constitution, the majority of the constitution today has been interpreted in a non-literal sense to ensure its flexibility and preservation.)

Haha, thanks. We were beating a dead dog there, I was worried it could go on for days.

thank you for not making me go on.
Well the whole debate isn't over, just me and along going at it.
Gun conrol is not a new policy. It was created 70 years ago by Adolf Hitler. It was then adapted by Stalin, Pol Pot, Mau Zedong, and other communist/fascist dictatorships. So, I guess we all know how the governemtns of these people turned out.
While I concede people should be allowed to own guns for protection, I don't understand people who take pride in having massive gun collections, and are so enthusiastic about what basically are complex killing tools. I think it's sad that some people need to own guns at all.
The thing is that the constitution says that there is a right to bear arms in a regulated militia. Militia nowadays is the National Gaurd. The general population, according to the constitution, does not have a right to bear arms. Its a comma between the first and second parts you fascists.
