LOL. I'm taking 2 AP classes, have a ton of work, and I still take guitar. But I know what you mean, I can barely fit it in. -_-

I'm a Jazz Guitar and Music Education major.

You people don't have any idea what "busy" looks like till you have one week to learn eight Big Band charts, learn two new scales in all 12 keys, do 3 pages out of a reading exercise book, and work on chord formation theory.

Oh yeah, then i've got my 18 credits of coursework.

My main love within music is jazz theory and analysis. Playing is really just a vehicle for my more nerdy loves within music.

Buy a guitar with thinner neck, for a beginner like you it is much easier to perform different chords, like the B chord or chords with have bar placing. But if you have a long fingers buy the wider neck , to have room for you chord positioning. I think the Johnson guitar is right for you, for my point of view.

Wider necks are also better if you do complex chord forms. But if you're just playing rock, and simple rock, not like John Mayer "I have a degree in this" kinda rock guitar, a small neck will do you fine.

Actually I have a nice little Ash Stratocaster that I play a lot of jazz on too.

I have a Johnson acoustic and a Les Paul Studio electric. If you are just starting out, a Johnson is great. If you are planning on performing a lot, you may want to go with something a slightly fancier, like the Fender Squier.
