Okay, so for all of those marching band geeks/nerds who love to call themselves that...I have made a thread for all of those stories we all love to hear and laugh at. So...if you wanna reply with "One time...during band camp( or just band) ..." and then finish it off.
ex: One time...during band camp... we were sprayed down with fire truck hoses. So, we decided to get most of our staff in the fun. We had to chase our director and then push our drill instrutor in. Come to find out he had his cell on him, what a pitty...it broke and he was pissed. OOPS! :D
"Life without horses...I don't think so"
"If you want control...Buy a remote"
Well, one time during band camp, some friends and I were participating in a talent show. We were doing a song and ended up saying pissed. Ended up getting us kicked off. Still pretty funny though.
there's too much of those to name.. xD
here's one... that's sorta creepy.
one time during band camp, it was senior slave day. one of the freshmen slaves was forced to wear the cheerleader costume. and the scariest thing was.. the cheerleader outfit.. was too big on him. yes. i said him. yes, he was THAT skinny. same with the flagette costume. scary crap.

Can't be much worse than our annual male beauty pageant, where us guys basically dress up. Two of my friends did it for the laughs, and I'm doing it next year with them. The funniest thing was that when I mentioned it to my mom, she said she had a dress or two that would fit me. But I'm pretty scrawny myself, so it might look weird...or weirder than usual.
LOL. i would love to see our band do that. But that'll never happen.

My freshman year we had what was called the freshman mile. You do a mile around the track, walking and playing drum cadences. If somebody messed up, whether it be marching off-beat or a missed cue on a stick-move, whatever, you tagged (hit in the webbles) and have to run a lap while playing cadences. Rinse and repeat.
dude. is this just the drumline?
for our freshmen, we used to have a senior slave day where each senior gets one or two freshmen and the freshmen do whatever the senior did.. but a parent called in to complain and it was stopped.. which sucked. and then there's the rookie dance where each day at band camp the seniors teach the freshmen this ridiculous dance to a random song (and they usually don't match at all) and then perform it to their parents the last day of band camp. oh yea, must not forget the rookie march. lol. it's a really funny march where the freshmen gets humiliated and the real outgoing upperclassmen joins them just for the fun of it. The chant goes like this "my back aches, my pant's to tight, my booty shakes from to left to the right, left, left, left right left."

Wow, that's awesome. We don't have any chants...unfortunately. Plus, our staff normally won't let us chant because we like to seem as professional as possible in the stands after performances. We also had "march-offs" we've stopped them lately, but the band would get into block formation and then the staff would call out commands and you'd have to do everything right, until you messed up and were called on to get out.
We also have a VERY strict drill instructor...he knows the Cadets marching style and teaches it to us. Anyway...we call him Patch xD. But yea, everyone hates him when were working on basic blocks.

We did the same thing with the whole calling-out commands stuff. In my 4 years of drumming in high-school, I can only remember having drummers in the "Final Four" twice. Getting past the third command was a feet for most of us. We're drummers, we play. Done deal. lol
O how I miss those days.
Look! I'm not dead!
Wow, I have a ton of these...
Freshman year:
During band camp, and later a game, our sousaphone player got blown halfway across the field and lost his mouthpiece.
What can I say: skinny sousaphone player + massive wind gusts = flying duck (the sousaphone player's nickname)
My brother, who was helping conduct the brass section during band camp sectionals, broke the baton in two: half of it flew and hit Kyle (duck) in the face...the other half landed in his sousaphone. Poor Kyle, everything happened to him that year.
Water balloons...that's all I'm going to say
"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you're up to."
"And God came down from the Heavens, and He said unto the Chicken, 'Thou shalt cross the road.' ...and there was much rejoicing."
LOL. the massive wind gust almost did that to me once! we were all taking in drill ready to practice the tunnel and then a huuuuge blast of wind came out of no where, and i felt my feet getting lifted off the ground. but it was funnier when the senior trombonist, with all his weight and excess fat, was also lifted off the ground. xD
