I'm going to run for the SFC (student-faculty council) president of my school this year. The election is in late April. Does anyone have any tips for how to run the campaign and get votes, particularly from those freshmen who lack an allegiance to any of the candidates at this point?
Thanks so much, any help is appreciated
Tom
Be genuinely nice to everybody, whether or not they deserve it. Effective, and easier than it sounds. Also, have any friends who are good at art/comics? Funny posters are better than ones that take themselves too seriously.
I agree with the being nice and funny posters thing. Also, make yourself known to the underclassmen. And be yourself! Smiling a lot doesn't hurt either. As for the campaign, don't make promises you can't keep. I'd say just say that you'd do your best and try not to let anyone down. Good luck from this Student Council President, and I hope you win. :-)

Results were announced yesterday. Thanks for your advice, but in a 7 horse race I ended up in 2nd by 5 votes. Tough loss.

Wow, tough lost. Sigh* if only I was your campaign manager, it could turn out differently.
