thats impressive. im not a wrestler but a buncha people tried convincing me to do it last year. i would have done it but i didnt want to because my friend who i was on cross country with was super hardcore and the diet he did during wrestling was super crazy and during wrestling season he never once drank anything that wasnt water and he often had just a small sandwich with salad for lunch. that seemed too anorexic for me (even though im skinny/ muscular or whatever.) so that kinda scared me out of it.

dude, you have no idea how hard it is to keep that diet. im somewhat of a hardcore wrestler too. i don't eat 2 days b4 a match and barely drink water...but you should see us in that weigh in room after weigh ins, is like a buffet for moochers. everyone has like subway, jersey mikes, McDonald's, etc...

hahaha, thats funny nymcha..

but bill, i know thats hard, thats why i didnt do wrestling, LOL, but still, dont you feel lethargic before your matches on that kind of diet? i mean your not getting any energy or nutrients! how do you sustain yourself?? i think if i ate like that id pass out on the floor in my room and die looking like one of those starved african kids. and im not fat, im lean and muscular, but that kind of diet just doesnt feel..right..

its all mental. being lethargic means that you are letting your body tell your mind wat it wants. i dont allow myself to think those thoughts. if i fell tired or out of energy i tell myself that after the matchi can eat all i want. all i have to do is push myself and make it through thoise rough times. once you get used to it your body adaptys and you dont feel hugry any more

true that on both posts. i attribute kinda what youre saying about wrestling to other things, except its more like a double mental thing, and thats how i teach myself to do new stuff. so i understand what your saying, and it kinda applies to cross country too, on race days all i did was drink some water and afterwards eat lots of different kinds of fruit.

so you kno wat i mean. im betting you that if you toughened yourself a little mentally by starving yourself for short periods or some other strenuous activity for a long time your times will greatly improve. it teaches you to block out unneccisary pain. you know the saying pain is weakness leaving the body? its true to an extent. im not expecting you to not eat for a week and only sleep 5 hrs or anything. but find something you can allow yourself to do and push yourself to the absolute most you can take.

yes, true true. i dont really need that anymore though, because i cant do cross country at the school i go to anymore since it conlicts with band, whereas at my last school it didnt matter.
ive done religious fasting before though, i fasted for about 25 hours and then i made sandwiches for homeless people around the 20-something hour mark. (it was a church youth project)
but yeah, its all cool stuff, i learned alot about endurance from cross country, and it is valuable, cuz stuff like this that you learn, you eventually can learn to apply it to alot of different tasks and it makes other things seem really easy compared to what others think.

i kno right? one of my favorite shirts that i wear all the time says that after wrestling...EVERYTHING IN LIFE IS EASY!!! The other one says 'a true champion is not measured by the margin of his victory, but by the atitude in which he takes on his challenges.' theres a lot of truth in both of those statements and not every sport ive done has made me realize this. i ran cross country, played football, wrestled, played soccer, and for a while took a great intrest in lacrosse. but in wrestling i learned that to win, everyone on the team must be flawless. if one person messes up than it effects the whole team. in your instance, if your sick, and your a team leader, you have 20+ more ppl that may be able to pull it off. in wrestling, its just you and your opponent. football, you miss a block, the next guy picks it up. wrestling, you miss a down block and the other guy has control of your legs and your whole base. same goes for band, you miss a note or flat out dont kno it, the guy beside you can cover for you as you finger along.
