Haha. I love our show this year. Mainly because I'm a DM. :-D
The competition went well. We brought home 7 awards: best DM in both parade and field, best drum line in both parade and field, best color guard in field, and second place in both parade and field. Last year we did "a tribute to the Windy City, Chicago."

Seriously? Congrats. I wanna try out for Drum Major next year, but our current Drum Major is a Junior and she'll probably try out next year too. -.-''

I'm not trying out during senior year though. I want it to end with fun and no pain. xDD jk jk

Haha. Thanks. How many drum majors do you have? We have three. Why not do it your senior year? It's fun and it's cool to say, "yep, that's my band." I think it's great that I got to be a drum major both my junior and senior year. After being with the band program since the 4th grade, it's kinda neat to both direct and play. And it is fun. Like at award ceremonies, all of the drum majors are all talking and making friends. We all started singing and dancing to 'jump on it' at the last one.

Our band's pretty small. Some said there's 72 once you add the auxilary, but it seems less. So we only have 1 drum major. A rumor went around that we might have two drum majors next year. So that'd be exciting. I'm not trying out senior year because one of my frnds really want to be drum major her senior year, and to be frank, she's waaay better than me. Besides, I'm a lazy person, so staying late and helping out isn't fun. I'm Uniform Corporeal, and it's the worst officer position ever. And I never even signed up for that role. argh. Can't wait until I'm rank sargeant. I know for sure I'm going to be the Low Brass Section leader my senior year. Mwahahahaha.

Haha, bandies!!

Do your schools have drumlines? Our pit is like, 8th best in worlds. Though, they hold them in Dayton, Ohio, so...*coughlamecough*

I only know this because my bro plays marimba...funfun.

our drumline is really small. two snare, one tenor, four bass (but one broke his leg), and four pit. yea, really small.

today our band teacher felt like he was about to cry. i could tell. it was painful to watch. it was just that no one felt like playing... and the drumline wasn't watching the dm. the dm is always right. end of story. not only that, but it sounded like crap. ugh. it's sorta like senoritis. we've endured all this and we've done so well.. now we're on the verge of slacking off. >.<''

seriously? ohio? I know a snare drummer in the OSU marching band. She's my frnd's cousin. xDD

Yup, Ohio. I mean, we're from Colorado, but for some reason the Drumline Competitions are is Dayton. Don't ask me why...(what's in OHIO?)

Aw, I feel sorry for your teacher. Poor guy. That would stink, especially as he can't really do anything if people decide, "Oh, well I don't think I shall play. And I hate the drum major, so I'll watch to grasshoppers instead."

Drumline is big over here. All the schools have one (well, all the non-sucking schools) and we have...hmm, this year I think it's about the same as yours...but more snare, like five, four bass, two tenor, and about 12 pit.

Do your guys' bands/Drumlines use a lot of props in your shows?

Well, only the flaggetes and colorguard. They use loads of props. I dont see why since our colorguard sucks. -.-''
And our band's too stupid to do anything cool like that .

At my old school, our drumline was huge too. The middle school drumlike was 30 people strong. You can only imagine the high school drumline. It was basically the whole band right there.. and the band's huge (not counting drumline.) Speaking of which, if you've ever seen the movie Drumline, then you know the people in the band is from South West Dekalb (the's a high school in Atlanta) and I used to play against them. Thank god I moved because we'd lost. They're the best in atlanta. Their drumline is huge and the high school is Open (which means they have so many people they cant put a number to it. My band's only AA. -.-).

Aw, marching band season is now over for me. :-( Our drumline is only 9 people. Yep. That's it. Our pit was three. It's kinda sad, but they were really good. We never used props in any of the shows. My director doesn't like them, so we can't have any.

@ bassoonist@large: I get to go back to being the section leader for the low brass now that the marching season is over with. I kinda missed playing my instrument for four months. lol

Aww.. Our marching season isn't over until thanksgiving holiday.. which is in three more weeks. Our first game was the last week of august. =\
