The great schism was the split in the Catholic church... I may not be answering your question...let me look it up...

Okay, it is Ch.11 in my book...
"The schism greatly aggravated the financial abuses that had developed within the church during the Avignonese papacy. Two papal administrative systems (with only one-half the accustomed revenues) worked to increase taxation. At the same time, the schism badly damaged the faith of Christian believers. The pope was widely believed to be the leader of Christiendom and, as Boniface VIII had pointed out, held the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Since both lines of popes denounced the other as the Antichrist, such a spectacle could not help but to undermine the institution that had become the very foundation of the church."

I hoped that this interpretation gives you a better idea about this :D

YES I CAN!!!! :D
We started with the Renaissance...
Humanism is the revival of interest in the Greco-Roman culture. It stresses the power of the human mind and individualism.

Thanks again. Ok so if it stresses the power of human mind and individualism then how did it influence the medieval concepts of education and the Renaissance politics??

Easy, all you need to think about is Greek Culture. The Greeks loved to think, loved to question, and loved to debate. How can education NOT expand when those concepts are revisited? Renaissance politics formed out of educational changes, if you are born a girl (education) then you will grow into a woman (politics)
Better?
