does anyone have any information on this essay, or where to get help with it? I would really appreciate it.
"To what extent did the natural environment shape the development of the West beyond the Mississippi and the lives of those who lived and settled there? How important were other factors?"
well, before i can help you, tell me what you have
There is no future. There is no past. There's only us, there's only this. Forget regret or life is your to miss. No other road, no other way. No Day But Today!!!
First, it's not a DBQ, so there are no documents to go by.
I've been reading the textbook, but I'm finding it hard to think of what to write for the essay. So far, I have:
- the environment determined whether or not people moved there because the West was thought to be just a desert. Although such rumors were dispelled, it delayed American migration into the West significantly.
- the Gold Rush of 1849 was an extremely important cause for migration in the West, as well as other natural resorces that had not been yet tapped by East.
- The Missouri Compromise of 1820 - "other factors" - made moving to the West an appealing alternative to territorial issues in the eastern parts of America. (this point i'm a bit iffy about)
That's about all I have. It's not enough for a good essay, and I'm having trouble elaborating.
Thanks for any help given.
What was it about the environment? Who was moving out there and why woul you think they were? There is much analysis to do. And you have a good basis, you juist need to go way way deeper. and questions about why, what caused this effect, what specifically, read your book and use online resources like wikipedia to help.
Also, don't forget the rest of the question...what did the people do once they got out there in the west?
There is no future. There is no past. There's only us, there's only this. Forget regret or life is your to miss. No other road, no other way. No Day But Today!!!
This is more of a you figure it out yourself essay. It's mostly common sense - which yes, the school is slowly draining us of- So think about where they came from, what the land they were used to is like, the weather patterns, farming techniques <- a big hint, something not mentioned above is very related to this, but not really explained by me seeing your info.
Also..if you use the search function, I made a post outlining alot that you could put in a while back....
