Advice for the actual AP test?

Since the AP test is like a week away, I was wondering if anyone has any good tips that teachers or whoever have told you for the test? For example, what if you can't remember anything about the time period of the DBQ? Or if there is something on the multiple choice that you've never heard of? How likely are you to actually do well on this test - it sounds so hard!

My class took a practice multiple choice test with 60 questions. Some folks got 52 right, others got 18... Those were the extremes, though. Most of us got the 30-40 range.

1/4 point is taken off of a wrong multi-choice answer, while questions left blank are worth 0 pts, so if you have no clue, leave it. Still, if you can narrow the options down even by one, you have a chance of improving your score, so go for it.

I typed up some of the DBQ tips from my class in a new thread.

Don't worry too much- it'll be over soon! Then... ugh, finals... but then summer!

You should not be too afraid of the essays because you take them after the MC... So when you get to the essays you have all these fresh facts in your head.!! I can't say do stress b/c it is impossible but don't let the test intimdate you. go in thinking you already have a 5 and all you have to do is prove it!! GooD LucK.

Good point about those essays, babyheigh. Another reason not to stress: Compared to last year's averages, many of my classmates had passing scores of three with just the multiple choice and our DBQ averages.

my teacher said the Dbq should be easy just look at a web site and figure about past dbq questions and she told us that the normally repeat a dbq question every nine years so good luck

our teacher told us that if we know a general timeline of important events and cause and effect of events, we shold be able to problem solve through most of the mc. the thing thats going to get me is the time limit. im not worried about accually writing the essays b.c im a pretty strong writer, its just remembering the dates, names and places. i cant wait till this is over!

our (fantastic) teacher gave us some examples of previous dbq's - ones that scored in lower range- specifically and 3 and a 4, and then one that was a 9. it was really interesting to see that the 9 was not so much intricate details about the time period, but rather simply possessed a solid thesis and discussed the connections between events and the documents relating to cause and effect as well as the prompt. the key is relevance. i de-stressed alot after reading it- the girl who had written it had only gone a little more than 3 pages and had ended with a very thoughtful, cohesive conclusion. just goes to show that these essays are graded on quality over quantity. good luck!

Here is thought, my teacher thinks that the dbq (this is just his idea, it isn't for sure) is going to be about progressivism or vietnam. He thinks that because they go in order of time era on dbq's and neither of those have been used for a dbq question in a while.

Here is another hint my teacher told. On thursday night after dinner, don't study anymore. Have your paretns cook your favorite meal and then watch a relaxing movie but don't study. Go to bed early and get a good breakfast.

My teacher says that she thinks that the dbq this year is probably going to be on vietnam or WWII. I'm not sure whether or not to trust her on this, I'll probably end up studying vietnam and WWII and end up writing a dbq on something entirely different.

Likely DBQ choices from my teachers are the Grant Administration (Merit v. Spoils systems) and the social aspect of the Vietnam war (I take that to mean hippies).

My teacher said that a likely choice for the DBQ would propably something in the Civil War and sectionalism and something during the COld War and Vietnam
