blue-backed currency?

What is blue-backed currency? I know it was used by the Confederacy during the Civil War when they were running out of revenue, but I'm curious as to what it actually is. Does anyone know?

Here's the site I found. Basically it was the paper money that the Confederacy produced during the civil war named so because they were blue on the back. They printed all this money confident that the sale of cotton would pay for it in time, but problems arose with the cotton trade...
