Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
new deal- first 100days of FDR helped with the depression
Progressivism-helping the economy to get further ahead of itself. invovled the pure food and drug act (the Jungle) some main progressives were TR and Wilson
I can't seem to remmember the other two but for the Treaty of Paris i am leaning toward bringing Italy to the Allies in WWI. Hopefully someone else will know for sure
geoff is that u wired how's u find this site
well u know they talk about the square deal on page 199 of the rea book
If you haven't found the answers yet, here's a few:
Square Deal: "Broadly speaking, the president's program embraced three C's: control of the corporations, consumer protection, and conservation of natural resources."
Some examples of the "Square Deal" in action: Anthracite coal mines strike (1902), Bureau of Corporations (1903), Hepburn Act (1906), Northern Securities decision (1904), Interstate Commerce Act, Sherman Anti-Trust Act, Clayton Anti-Trust Act (1914), Federal Reserve Act (1913), and various pro-economy acts like the ones dazelmer mentioned.
Also, for Progressivism (around 1901-1914, under TR & Wilson): "The 'real heart of the movement,' explained one of the progressive reformers, was 'to use government as an agency of human welfare.'" Progressivism began with the Populists/Greenback Labor Party, muckrakers (Lincoln Steffens, Ida Tarbell, etc.), Social Gospel Movement, Gilded Age (the people were getting tired of laissez-faire and gov't corruption).
As for the Treaty of Paris, please elaborate on the date. There are two of them (that I know of): 1763 and 1783.
