DBQ from 1825-1850

"Reform movements in the United States sought to expand democratic ideals." Assess the calidity of this statement with specific reference to the years 1835-1850.

Can anyone help me with this. I need to get around three themes and then i can find information on them to write this thesis. I am literally stumped.
