Our assignment is as simple and general or hard (whichever way you look at it)
the thesis statement is as follows, During the early 1700s, prior to the French and Indian War (1754-1763), Americans had to become less dependent on Great Britain and had become rather homogeneous.
We were then instructed to find 6-8 documents so that a student could then agree or disagree with this statement. I think we will finally give our docs to another student for them to write a DBQ on the subject at hand. My question is what topics should I look for that will relate to this thesis statement.
Anything will be appreciated,,, Thanks a lot
With any "Make a DBQ project" the first step is to outline all the Somethings about interstate relations. There is one especially famous political cartoon of a disjoined snake by Ben Franklin with the warning "join or die" that represents how separate the states were. You might also want to find quotes about how the colonies had become more industrialized (well, not so much industrialized as.....I don't know, maybe self-relient). And maybe another one about interstate relations...forgive my redundantness and made up word...
That's all I can really tell you. Don't really remember much except for the cartoon. However, I do know how to make a good DBQ. Plus you already have the topic, which I find it is hard to think of a question that is on the AP level.
Anyways, good luck!

how the colonies became more homogeneous with Great Britain rather than self-reliant of each other. Any help there would be greatly appreciated. I like your idea about the snake political cartoon though, I also have seen it.
Thanks,

The only thing I can find that the two countries (well, at least now they are) have in common are the Enlightenment. Other than that....I'm stumped. Sorry, but I should be getting a different book soon, one that better corresponds with the American Pageant series.
