How did the economic and social impact of World War II alter American society between 1939 and 1965 with regard to:

Minorities that fought in WWII (notably African Americans) started to more actively push for civil rights - they fought the war too, they should have the rights that everyone else has.
Women started to be in the workplace more when the men went off to fight the war, so they didn't necessarily want to give it up when the men returned home
American dream is revisited: the baby boomers, two kids, a dog, a white picket fence. A house in the suburbs, a good paying job. Think of a "Leave it to Beaver" episode.

This might be off-base, but I believe the GI Bill was also instrumental in the founding of that same middle class because of the way it provided mortgages and education for veterans.
