Well North America was conviently placed smack dab in between Europe and Asia, so this in effect lead Colombus into hitting the Americas. Unfortunately, he did not realize that it wasnt the West Indies, but good for Europe because it stimulated further exploration of the Americas and lead to the growth and expansion of the spanish empire. The Ice Age developed the Bering Strait which led to nomadic asian hunters crossing into the americas and then branching out. Thats always good to know......especially since these in fact were the first 'real' discoverers of the Americas. :)
I hope this helped, and i hope i wasnt to late in answering. I'm new to this site.
