Help anyone?
My teacher assigned us each a document from an old DBQ and told us to analyze and share with the class. I don't really have an idea on anything that could fit it. >.<

Okay so basically I said this was Jefferson complaining to Madison that he is not interpreting the XYZ Affair correctly. Is Jefferson basically saying that Madison used it to attack the republicans?
Alright, so language is a bit sketchy, but at this point in time, the republican party didn't exist, though the democratic-republican party did. The republican mind could refer to the democratic-republican party (sometimes called democratic, and sometimes called republican) or it could refer to the mindset of the american people as a whole. I think this is the latter and the effect was a huge anti-french mentality. Madison did not send out the information, I think Jefferson was just commenting on the event to Madison.
