Help With 1920s-1950s Era

Can someone please help me. We got a new teacher a couple of days ago and she jumped us about 60 years through history to the 1950s. I have to write an essay and i have no clue what this period is about. The topic is:

Cite relevant historical evidence in support of your generalizations and present your arguments clearly and logically.

Analyze the extent to which the 1920s and 1950s were similar in TWO of the following areas:
Impact of Technology
Intolerant Attitudes
Literary Developoments

Thanks for your help this is also a question off the 2008 US AP History EXAM!!
