My teacher stinks...

I am a junior taking AP American History and my teacher is the worst possible teacher you could have for an AP class.

First of all, the teacher has OCD, so (s)he is just plain weird.
Second, this teacher knows SO much about SO many things and in SO much depth that (s)he can't really teach it very well.
All the teacher does is recite the chapter to us in class everyday, (s)he does not explain anything or make his/her own notes to help. The teacher just reads from the book and that's it.

We have our first test tomorrow chapters 1-4 and everyone is so scared they are going to fail because we haven't learnt anything.

I just hope I pass the AP test.

That's the thing, our only assignements (apart from the weekly essays) are to read each chapter before he reads it for us in class. So basically, we read what he reads in class. It makes no sense, he just lectures from the book, doesn't give us his own notes or anything.

Oh well, I'll see how I manage to pass that class

How do you guys go so fast? Wow...

I guess it's because we missed school for a week because of the hurricane.

My teacher's a slave driver. I'm so stressed out, and we're only a week into school.

I got the worst teacher, she is a jew first off and doesn't mind telling people that. She also is a recovering alcohalic and she admits that too, she also is a psychic for hire and has her own website, no joke. She contacts dead people and goes into great detail explaining how it works. Also she has an online journal and thats where most of these interesting things come out from. Also all she does is read from her notes and has us copy hers all period, absolutely no discussion cuz thats how she "learns better'' keyword SHE.

You definitely got me beat there.

How can the school allow her to be part of the faculty?

I am a junior taking AP US History. I was just reading your comments, man, ya'll got it bad. Fortunatly my teacher is very thorough and we have great discussions in class. I go to a small school in the middle of farming land. That is surrounded by huge suburban areas since we arent too far away from D.C. we are the only school under 1500 in our county. Everyone else is over 4000. This new teacher just moved here and I love this guy, he tought at a school in Florida that got ruined in Hurricane Charlie last year. Im glad he is here. He lives his life for APUSH.

But anyway, my suggestion, get together with a group of friends, dont read the book, assign each person a topic from the chapter, write down all you know then teach that to the next person, go around the table, then at the end ask for input. You teach peers... You learn from peers. It is the best thing. I know these AP tests are detail oriented, but that is what your teacher is there for.... To read every sentence from that chapter... Haha. Anything else I can do tell me... I have a lot of great study ideas..
