Need info on French and Spanish Settlements

Hello everyone...(I recently joined),
I'm making an outline for a test I have tomorrow and I am using the American Pageant 10th edition also Enduring Visions.

I seem to have trouble finding information for "Spanish and French Settlements and long-term influences" which is on my test.

So if anyone can provide outline details for the subject mentioned above you have my thanks.

Much Appreciated...

Spanish influence:

Established missions all over the friggen place, namely california which left major relgious marks on the region.
Were much kinder to natives than the brits were. the brits hated natives due to the whole irish thing. (or was it scotland?)

French:
Fur trade, lots of it
Founded new orleans?
