How have you tried answering this before? I'm sure that if you were to look in you book, you'll find info on things like treaties and agreements between the Native Americans and European powers. Like I said, try to look for things that show how the N.A.s played with the powers: treaties, trade agreements, trade in general, land rights, even relationships between them and colonies associated to powers like Spain and France.
