Ok, I realize that by not allowing Congress to tax states and making Congress pretty much except donations, the US had a terrible economy. Therefore, they could not pay the soldiers from the Revolution.
My question is did the weak economy also inhibit Congress from forming a standing, national army following the Revolution (the Continental Army disbanded pretty much after the war, and it was left to state militias? Or was it because the Articles FORBID a standing or national army?
I am righting an essay on the Articles, and I want to make sure I understand this point.
Thanks.
