I've got a topical due in two days and, unfortunately, haven't been able to get together with my group to work on it. Can I have a little help here?
To what extent did the building of the first transcontinental railroad linking the East and the West contribute to the wrenching apart of the North and the South?
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm way too tired to be looking stuff up, but maybe it had something to do with power...
I'm sure I'll be of more help tomorrow.

Okay, this is a tricky one. Here's my thoughts on it. It links together the east and west, the fastest form of transportation to day, by land or sea. Now, to be in control of such a thing would mean increased commerce, better trade, and all that good stuff right? Who wouldn't want all that? Well, it may stretch from the east all the way to the west, but it had to start in either the north or the south. I mean, they're already having issues, and now it comes into question who should have control of the eastern portion of this revolutionary railroad. Surely that bound to spark more than a few debates.
And unfortunately that's all I have. There's not much mention of this that I can finnd
