Newton?s Laws
Sir Isaac Newton
Newton?s First Law
Gravity
Force
This picture demonstrates Newton?s first law as it shows an object at rest. The reason it is at rest however, is because there are balanced forces at work. The gravity is pulling the rocket down, but that force is counter-acted by the equal force created by the base, and therefore the ground on which the rocket sits. Obviously, there are other forces at work stopping the rocket from tipping over when pushed by things such as wind, such as the red tower.

Elements of Design
Straight Lines
This steel beam is an example of straight lines in design because it gives the steel beam definition, and a feeling that the beams are extremely stable. The straight lines make this design seem better because It adds a nice detail and allows you to know that this object is in fact made out of steel.
Curved or Jagged Lines

?Dulce et Decorum est? 1917
By Wilfred Owen
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of tired, outstripped Five-Nines that dropped behind.

Light/Dark Imagery
?
One of the play?s most consistent visual motifs is the contrast between light and dark, often in terms of night/day imagery. This contrast is not given a particular metaphoric meaning?light is not always good, and dark is not always evil. On the contrary, light and dark are generally used to provide a sensory contrast and to hint at opposed alternatives
