Desire for glory ???Spanish explored southeastern US (Florida, Mexico, etc.) ?? Talks about how easily they can be converted in his logs and journals ? Did not notice any signs of religion ? No temples or places of worship signified to Columbus no religion. ? Gentle?no knowledge of weapons ? ? Desire to serve God ? Importance of religion ? Desire to convert natives to Christianity ? No real use of forced conversions ? Hunger for gold ?? Young?he saw no one over thirty ? Perception of noble savage?nudity equaled both poverty and innocence
