The Age of Jackson- the age of profound political and social developments Was Jackson a peoples? president? People stormed the white house after Jackson had won the election through a national convention First president to sidestep congress to be the leader of the people In some ways he was a state?s rightist and others a federalist He was censured by the senate because of his extreme actions, vetoed almost every bill that he saw which was unacceptable including the charter of the bank The middle class wanted the bank for expansion, credit etc Democratic Changes National convention, abolish of property qualifications for voting, abolish of imprisonment for debt, rotation of office, third parties, women?s lobby groups, utopian societies, humanitarian reform
