Neurodegenerative Diseases are described by a progressive loss of bodily functions. Different diseases have different symptoms; Alzheimer?s is characterized by the loss of memory while Parkinson?s, by rigid muscles. Such diseases do not have cures and treatments are limited. Researchers are desperate to find a cure for these diseases that affect millions of people today. Among those that are studied, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig?s disease has become one of the most widely researched. It is an adult-onset disease that targets the motor neurons of the body. Little is known about the disease and even less about its cause. However, there is one thing that ALS has in common with all of the other degenerative disease: neuroinflammation.
